\nThis to me is such a powerful line. I can almost sense the feeling of dead the people would feel as this powerful force loomed overhead. The rumbles foreshadowing the enormous anger of betrayal just waiting to be unleashed. Though, I don't believe it's more that he wants to unleash his anger but it's that the humans who continuously perform these shameless acts and do not acknowledge God as supreme ruler then once you die there will be a consequence. Though, also, it shows that God is the protector and that he is trying to protecting you from devilish temptations.
